Sāmityam - Now Touring
Sāmityam, or closeness/nearness in Sanskrit, epitomizes the viṣisṭādvaita philosophy conceived and propagated by Ramanuja during the 11th century CE. This solo Bharatanatyam lecture-performance contextualizes and analyzes Ramanuja’s tremendous impact on Hindu philosophy and Indian aesthetics. The compositions chosen for this presentation also introduce other influences that shaped Ramanuja during his early years and travels throughout India.
